Anorak of Fire: The Life and Times of Gus Gasgoigne

and

Deckchairs

HumDrum's October offering is something a bit different; truly an evening of two halves...

Half the First is Stephen Dinsdale's Anorak of Fire: The Life and Times of Gus Gasgoigne. Gus is a young, enthusiastic train-spotter, a man completely at odds with everything in the world that isn't trains or the spotting of them. Following successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Arts Theatre in London, HumDrum is pleased to bring this touching, ironic and always funny piece to The Spring.

Half the Second is Deckchairs by Jean McConnell, comprising five sketches - Shoppers, Early Blight, Dancers, Late Frost and Doggies and demonstrating that all of human life can be found in deckchairs by the sea. Each sketch is chalk-and-cheese different to its sisters covering subjects as diverse as shopaholics, family relationships, the joys of widowhood, the pain of infidelity and, well, dogs.

Something light, something dark, something funny and something sad for the beginning of Autumn.
