One hundred days...

It is the eighth of May, 1945. The war in Europe is over; the war in the East staggers to its explosive end.

A group of Nottingham women has to face the reality of their men returning; of picking up the pieces of their now-very-different lives; of finding a way to knit what was and what will be together.

But the war has given Sandra a freedom she didn't know before - a freedom she may not be able to give up. Willing to do anything to escape a return to her oppressive and restrictive pre-war life, Sandra makes a decision that will affect all those close to her and change their lives forever.

HumDrum return to The Spring with Stephen Lowe's 1977 play, inspired by his mother and the women of her family whose battles at home had been every bit as difficult as their men on the front.
